This past Monday, our Speech & Debate Team competed at their UIL Speech District Competition. Our team did exceptionally well and earned the following awards:
Kamdyn Mathews - 1st place in Persuasive Extemp (Regional Qualifier)
Jessica Jenkins - 3rd place in Persuasive Extemp (Regional Qualifier)
Sydney Taylor - 6th place in Persuasive Extemp (Third Regional Alternate)
Lexi Morris - 6th place in Informative Extemp (Third Regional Alternate)
Alina Marcum - 4th place in Poetry (First Regional Alternate)
Audrey Kovar - 5th place in Poetry (Second Regional Alternate)
Ayden Rivera - 4th place in Prose (First Regional Alternate)
Congrats to Mr. Walker and his team on a successful tournament and good luck at Regionals!

Day 1 of the UIL CX State Tournament is in the books, and we’ve got some BIG news! 🎉
🏆 Kamdyn Mathews was named the 4th Best Speaker in the State!

Our baseball team brought the school spirit today, helping send off our Lady Foxes soccer team as they head to Round 1 of the playoffs in Anna! The support, energy, and teamwork were on full display—because at CMHS, we always lift each other up.

Today, Mrs. Gusukuma's physics students celebrated Pi Day the best way possible—by eating pie and experimenting with π (pi) itself! They measured the circumference and diameter of various pies to see if they could calculate π = 3.14… Their result? 3.33! Not too far off! 😆

"As a teacher, I’ve found that the "Shark Tank" assignment is a powerful way to engage students in learning persuasive techniques. By having them pitch their business ideas to a panel of their peers, I provide them with an opportunity to practice crafting strong, compelling arguments. This project challenges students to think critically, communicate clearly, and use persuasive language to capture attention and persuade others. Not only does it help them develop important skills for entrepreneurship, but it also boosts their confidence in presenting ideas—skills that are valuable in any area of life."

CMHS One Act Play advances to Bi-district contest with the play, A Bright Swarm of Beetles! Congratulations to individual award recipients to Asher Romine, Leah Gilbert, and Silas Miller. The Bi-district contest will be on March 28th at the Sue Walker Performing Arts Center at CMHS. Admission is $5.00 to see all the competing shows.
