Head Coach Gary Qualls

Coach Qualls is a retired firefighter/paramedic from City of McKinney.  He was a firefighter/paramedic for 20 years.  When he retired he went back to school to get his bachelors degree in Health and Psychology.  He graduated from Texas A&M-Commerce and began his 2nd career.

Coach Qualls is married for 32 years to his wife Shelia.  They have a daughter, Ashlee and son in law, Randal Doud.  Ashlee is a special education teacher  at Community High School.  Randal is an manager/trainee for UPS. Coach Qualls and wife, Shelia have 2 grandchildren:  Adalyn Jo Grace Doud and Jakob Aaron Sterling Doud.

Coach Qualls has coached at Leonard ISD, Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, and Athens ISD.  As head girls track coach at Leonard HS, Coach Qualls helped Lydia Bush win the 2002 State Championship as a shot putter.  At Athens he was head softball coach (2006-2012) and led his teams to 3 play off appearances and a overall record with 156 wins and 62 losses.  While at Athens 14 players were recruited and went on to play college ball at some level.

Coach Qualls came to Caddo Mills as head softball coach in fall of 2012.  He has continued the successful tradition of the softball program and elevated the bar even higher with a run in the 2014 play offs where the team went 21-8 and made it to the 2nd round of the state playoffs.  Again in 2017, the Lady Foxes finished as district runner up and participated in the UIL softball play offs with a 19-10 record. In 2018, the Lady Foxes finsihed as District 12-4A runner up and made it to the playoffs with a record of 16-7.

The 2019 season will be very challenging.  Moving to a new district with 2 familiar foes, Community and Quinlan, but adding Farmersville.  The 2019 season will also be full of young guns.  After seeing 6 seniors graduate in 2018, there will be only 1 senior on the 2019 team.  That makes for a young team coming up.  But, we look forward to much more success and more playoff experiences.

The softball program has amassed a record of 98 wins and 53 losses under Coach Qualls reign.  To date Coach Qualls has seen 3 Lady Foxes wear the jersey of collegiate teams; Jacie Thomason at Lubbock Christian University, Mary Moran at Arkansas Tech University, and Ashlyn Taylor at Texas Southern University.  Two players on the 2019/2020 teams have verbally committed to play college ball as well.  Junior/pitcher Lilli Cook has verbally committed to University of Arkansas - Monticello and Junior/SS-2B Josie Jenkins has verbally committed to Hardin Simmons University.

The 2019 season will be filled with anticipation.  The Lady Foxes will return 5 starters from 2018.  Senior Maci Patterson will take lead in the outfield, Lilli Cook (2018 TGCA All state and TXSWA All State), SS/2b Josie Jenkins (2017 TXSWA All State, 2018 TGCA all State), Junior catcher Cheridan Miller and Macie Bailey will return to lead the team to play offs once again.
